We’re hiring: Canada Field Representative
Seacology is an award-winning nonprofit organization devoted solely to the preservation of island environments and cultures. Seacology is based in the United States, but we work closely with island communities in 70 countries to protect terrestrial and marine ecosystems. We seek win-win situations, in which island communities both protect their environment and receive a tangible benefit. Our field representatives play an essential role in our work.
Job Description
Seacology field representatives work part-time on projects in their regions. Our Canada field representative will be responsible for:
- Identifying one project for Seacology each year in Canada.
- Preparing a brief written recommendation and analysis for each proposed project.
- Monitoring the progress of Seacology projects in Canada.
- Representing Seacology with news media in the region.
- Identifying potential Seacology Prize recipients and researching their nominations.
- Organizing occasional trips to Canada by Seacology staff, board members, and donors.
Requirements
To apply for this position, you must:
- Live in Canada.
- Have extensive knowledge of the country’s terrestrial and marine environments.
- Have contacts with environmental organizations and community groups in Canada.
- Understand island cultures.
- Have excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Be able to travel throughout the country to visit potential Seacology project sites.
- Have reliable access to email.
Compensation
Compensation is USD $5,200 a year for very part-time work. Field representatives are independent contractors, not employees. Seacology does not provide office space, but does provide reimbursement for Seacology-related expenses.
